A Loving Grandpapa

by Mary Peterson, daughter of Mamie – Julina

My deep feelings concerning Grandpapa have always been that he was very loving. Mother adored him and spoke of him often. Because of this it is hard for me to separate actual visits with him from the thoughts and memories given to us from our parents.

Of course I remember the magic pocket that always had candies in abundance. I was always interested in his beautiful long white beard and marveled at it. I loved to sit on his lap and watch him.

Mother was ill for a while when George and I were small and we were cared for at the Beehive House. At the evening meals Grandpapa would be seated at the head of the table and I would watch him as he ate his dinner. It was a happy, peaceful time.
