p. iii
The members of this committee wish to express to all the family the joy this work has brought into our lives. We have come to know and love many of you we have never known before. We have felt an added family closeness given only to those who work together. Most of all we have com to know that there are those on the other side who care that this work is done for we have each felt guidance in our search to gather all the family – that not one be left out.
There are some about whom little is known. Unfortunately all members of the family are not letter writers or family group sheet filler inners. Some of these will become evident as you read through the book discovering exact relationships and lineages.
You may discover an error here or there. We’re sorry. Please recognize that we’re human and so are you who supplied us with the information.
We hope there are many comments such as, “I didn’t know he was my relative!”, “I always have wondered what happened to her.”, “Your right. Aunt So and So died the year after our first baby was born.”
Then we hope that the names will bring back memories and that the histories will bring forth more stories told around dinner tables, camp fires, and at family home evenings. Feel free to write down any and all stories and send them to the committee member from your family. Another book will come out some day and new stories should be in it.
As we come to the close of this Bicentennial year know that you are a part of one of the finest families in the United States for it was through the ancestors of this family that the Gospel was restored for which purpose this country was kept hidden by the Lord and then peopled, formed, and guided by Him.
