Ruth Smith Glade Clayton, age 87, died March 7, 1992, at her home in Salt Lake City.
Born August 3, 1904 in Salt Lake City, the daughter of Alvin Fielding and Amelia Atkins Smith and granddaughter of Joseph F. and Edna L. Smith; also of Edward and Mary Ann Neal Atkins.
She married William Richard Glade July 30, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died March 15, 1958. She married Albert G. Clayton February 14, 1966. He died February 24, 1971.
Active member of the LDS church all of her life working in the Sunday School, MIA, Primary and Relief Society. She filled a two-year mission in the Bonneville Stake and a two-year genealogical mission.
Survived by two sons, James Alvin and Isabel C. Glade of West Valley City, and Edward Douglas and Carolyn G. Glade of West Point, Utah. Step-children, Leilah W. Glade of Bountiful, Utah, George Melvin and Merna K. Glade of Salt Lake City, Ruth G. and Willard A. Stephensen of Provo. Many lovable grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One brother, Dr. J. Alvin and Marguerite R. Smith of Provo. Also survived by her husband’s children, Lucile C. and Howard G. Smith; Janell C. and Grant R. Hardy, Philip J. and Margaret H. Clayton all of Salt Lake, Anne C. and Stephen Petty of California, and Lavar and Marilly W. Krantz of Hawaii.
Funeral services Wednesday, March 11, 12 Noon, in the Bonneville 1st Ward, 1535 East Bonneview Drive (1050 So.). Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Tuesday 6-8 PM and Wednesday at the ward from 11-11:45 AM. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
