As always, we will honor our 8 and 12 year-old family members. They will be singing “We’ll Bring the World His Truth”, so remember to practice a little. The children’s program, for children ages 3-7, will be held in the primary area of the building. Light refreshments will be served following the program.
This year marks 14 years since the Joseph F. Smith Family Association website was created. It has seen many versions through the years, but has always been meant to be a resource for family members, to provide news, media, stories, family history, and help coordinate the efforts to stay connected as a family.
If you haven’t looked at the website recently, go take a look. If you have something that needs to be listed in the Resources, look at the article titled “How to Make a Record of Family Heirlooms and Keepsakes” on the home page and follow the instructions. Then contact Jared F. Glade, the website administrator, and he will work to get the items listed. The website has a very easy name to remember. You will find it at http://josephfsmith.org.
This year we are again offering the Joseph F Smith Scholarship. To be eligible for the scholarship you need to be accepted to attend a college or university in the spring of 2014 or be currently attending school. Money for the scholarship is provided by the generous donations received each year at the reunion. To apply for the Joseph F. Smith Scholarship, please send your inquiry to scholarship@josephfsmith.org. You will be sent back instructions for application.
Thank you for your support and generous contributions! We invite you to donate online or at the reunion. Your financial contributions make these reunions possible, as well as our Joseph F. Smith Scholarship, and continuing family history work. The disbursement of these sacred funds is carefully reviewed before being approved by the Joseph F. Smith Family Association Trustees.
HELP!
Sorry…it’s too late now…you would have come had you known…why didn’t someone tell you? Well, we tried, but we couldn’t find you.
It’s too late to attend a re-enactment of the dedication of the Kirtland Temple, in the temple itself; or to have Elder Ballard place a medal around your child’s neck for completing the race commemorating the miraculous life-saving surgery on the Prophet’s leg 200 years ago. DON’T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN! Make sure your data steward gets your address updates, and those of your children, and their children, and your cousins and all the rest of the Smiths. Okay, maybe not all the Smith’s, but if everyone updates their own family, we can eventually get to all the Smith’s. This is your responsibility.
Contact your family data steward (listed on center column of the program) OR fill out the form included with this letter and bring it to the reunion OR mail it to: Mary Donoho, 9871 N West Crimson Ct, Highland, UT 84003 OR send her an email: thomasj@pathstone.us.
We hope you will be active participants in carrying on the Smith Family legacy by attending the reunion, helping to keep our family connected, by reporting updates to Data Stewards, and helping to fund the Joseph F. Smith Scholarship Fund.

With Love,
Mary Lou Little
2013 Committee Chairperson

This year, each wife will be represented as descendants share special experiences with Grandpapa Smith unique to that family line. We will be privileged to hear from John Smith (Mary), Linda Nebeker (Alice Ann), Florence Jacobsen (Sarah Richards), Kristen Oaks (Julina) and Elder Russell M. Ballard (Edna).

We encourage you to visit the family website at josephfsmith.org for family announcements, stories, other links and information. We invite you to donate online or at the reunion. Your financial contributions make these reunions possible, as well as support other lines of the Smith family for special projects, family homes and memorials, education projects, family history, the family web site, records and displays, etc. The disbursement of funds are carefully considered and voted upon by the Family Committee.

It is a blessing and a privilege to serve on the Family Committee. There are many ways you can serve and be an active part of carrying on the Smith Family legacy. I am grateful for the extraordinary efforts from the Family Association Officers, Data Stewards and Trustees: Mary Donoho, Vivian Adams, Jared Glade, Andrew Smith, Chris Rasmussen, Linda Erickson, Laura Wall, Mary Lou Little, Annette Tanner, Isaac Jackson and Danny Wood whose combined efforts behind the scenes make our reunion a success and keep our family connected.

Joseph F. Smith Scholarship for 2011

Dear Joseph F. Smith Family Board members and Associates,

After much deliberation, and with the assistance of the voting board and associates, I have selected April Robinson, David McKell Bowen, and Lindsey Marie Bushman as the first candidates to be awarded the Joseph F. Smith Scholarship for 2011. Thank you for all your recommendations this year. As many of you stated, it was an extremely difficult decision to make with such outstanding applications. I appreciate the prayerful consideration of each candidate, and I have every confidence that we have selected three very deserving people.

I want you to know how good I feel about giving this help to Grandpapa’s decedents to further there education. I was filled with the spirit as I read the applications, and the knowledge that they had about who they were, where they came from and where they were going.

I believe in this scholarship and I am going to make every effort to see that it grows each year! I hope you will help do the same.

With love, your cousin,

Carter
